purge document groups from Statistics selection

there are a lot of Document groups available for selection in my statistics report builder that seemingly have no occurrences in any Document timeline any more. I understand why one might want to have them available as choices, but is there a way to remove them selectively?

I think there is currently no way to remove document groups.
