allow me to copy only certain autotags, and allow me to amend the tags on the spot - apply additional tags to the single tag combination

If I understand you correctly then select autotag timeline, right click autotag in summary part then click Tag group As

yeah, thanks, I realized that after I posted :) Somehow I was fixating something like the on the sigma button being the necessary route.
