Hello.

see the page http://www.manictime.com...t/Help/v13/34/absorption

"when first autotag is matched skip the rest"

I can't find any explanation on support articles. What does it mean? How it works?

Please give some easy example to explain.

Thank you !

If you open up Autotag editor, there is a list of autotags on the left. When you click on one to select it, you can change its properties on the right. (see the image on the page you linked to)

Lets say I have these two autotags

Surfing - it has one rule, Firefox. So this rule says everything where I used Firefox is Surfing.

Now lets say I have one more autotag 'Social network sites' and it has a rule www.facebook.com.

If I go to facebook with Firefox, both of these two rules will match. I was using Firefox, so I was Surfing, I was also on facebook so I was also on Social network sites.

When this happens, MT will show both Surfing and 'Social network sites' autotags. Timeline will be split and one bit will show Surfing the other one Social network sites.

If you check 'Match only first', MT will take the order of autotags, so how you see them on the left side of Autotag editor and it will apply them one at the time.

So lets say Surfing is the first. In this case this time will go to Surfing and it will stop there, never even try matching Social network sites because it already found a match.

Does this make more sense?

One example what you can do with this.

Lets say all active time is work, except when you are using Firefox.

What you can do is add autotag:
-Work autotag
Apply when I am active

-Surfing autotag
Apply when I use Firefox

If I just leave it like this they will overlap. Now I can go to Autotag editor, and check Match only first. And also I have to make sure Surfing is above the Work, so it has higher priority.

This should do it.

Now lets say I decide IE is also surfing. All I have to do is add IE to surfing. Now both IE and Firefox will be surfing, while all else will be Work.

Ah, I see. This option is used to settle the overlap among autotags.

By the way, Admin. I found a translation mistake in Chinese language file.

Still in the same location "Absorbed by selected autotags"

The translator make a mistake and the meaning become "Absorb selected autotags"

Translations are in text file in Program files/ManicTime/Translations

Chinese is in file zh-chs.txt. You can correct it and send it to me and we will put it in the next release.
