I'm noticing some increased CPU usage. Sometimes, it'll go up to 50% on a 2.8GHz dual core CPU. Sometimes even higher. When I load up TaskManager to see what's sapping my CPU, it looks like ManicTime is trying to weasel out of it, and CPU usage returns to normal...
What is this, and would it be possible to get rid of it? It's slightly annoying, I don't see why ManicTime would require that much CPU, and the abrupt drop whenever I open Taskmgr is a bit conspicuous..
Also, why is Manictime so slow to respond? Loading it up from the systray takes like 10 seconds.

MT tracks open apps, so when you open Task manager, new app comes into foreground and MT usage probably spikes. You can leave Task manager open and see if MT is the one using CPU.
When you see it spiking you can also run ManicTimeProcessInfo.exe, it extracts information on running threads. Send the output to us and we will take a look if there is anything out of the ordinary going on.
About UI, that is a separate process (ManicTimeClient.exe). There is a setting, Settings -> General -> Keep UI running when window closes, you can check this and UI should load much faster after the initial load. If you uncheck it, UI will be loaded every time you click the icon.
We will try to improve the startup time for UI in the next version.
