It would be great if we could pass commands to the program via command line switches.
Some examples: ManicTime.exe /OfftheRecord ManicTime.exe /OntheRecord -that way I could use scripts to automaticly exclude certain activities from being recorded.
ManicTime.exe /TimesheetExport -thisweek -"New Timesheet saved" -path c:\temp\ -I could automatically export timesheets to a shared folder
ManicTime.exe /AddTag "Some Tag Name" -duration 60m -I could add tags from scripts that run on other systems, etc..
ManicTime.exe /StartStopWatch -Tag "Something" -Note "sometext" -IdleCheck 10m ManicTime.exe /StopStopWatch -I could have scripts automatically pop up the stop watch when I open certain windows
ManicTime.exe /AreWeTracking -duration 60m -I could feel safe in knowing I'm not losing any billables because I could script to run this and it would just verify that it has been recording data for the last 60m. I've had unnoticed MT crashes lose me days of records before.
And many more.

I suggest you try out the new beta, it should be more stable www.manictime.com/setup/v2_4_0_1/manictimeusb.zipwww.manictime.com/setup/v2_4_0_1/manictime.exeTo start MT off the record you can use /off, but you probably meant that you could change on and off while it is running. Can't do that yet :) In this version you can start MT watcher, which will restart MT if it crashes. In the same folder where the database is, modify the file ManicTimeSettings.xml, you need to change ProcessMonitorEnabled to true. There are now also global shortcuts for stopwatch start, not exactly what you requested but maybe it will help. Exclude of certain activities is on the todo list for the next version. I'll see what we can do about the rest, I think it would be great to have them.

thank you, I look forward to it and will check out the beta.
As a side note MT crashes less lately but 95% of the crashes are as before when switching between a console session and a rdp session.

I would love these kind of Switches as well. Specifically, being able to add data from a script: ManicTime.exe /AddTag "Some Tag Name" -timeStart 9:40 -timeEnd 10:40 -note "This is a note"
It could also be another way of doing the same. Some API functionality maybe? Is there a plan to implement this??
