How do I add tags so they don't accumulate on top of each other if already present?

Now I search on a feature name. Since I know what release that feature is in, I tag with both a feature tag, and "Rel1". If someone had "R1.0 Feature Name", I have just tagged it a third time.
Why does it allow me to tag the same time, with the same tag, multiple times?

Next to the Add tag button there are three buttons. If you click on the left one you will be able to select the time and tag it again.
The second and the third option will not allow you to tag the same time twice.

As for tagging, I guess the app is "stupid", it allows you to do whatever you like. But if you will tag with exactly the same tag, then it will join it.
So if I tag
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM "Some tag"

It will not allow me to apply the same tag again.
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM "Some tag"
Or rather it will join the two tags into one.

But if I have the first option selected it will allow me to tag:
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM "Some tag 1"
9:00 AM - 10:00 AM "Tag some"

So basically it just looks at the text, if it is the same it will join it, if it is not it will create a new tag.
